Recently, I have been reading this book called "Descarte's Error" by a neurologist Antonio Damasio. His principal theme is that "reason and emotion are closely linked" and "sound decision making cannot be completely devoid of emotion". He tries to get this across through real examples of patients' lives where partial brain damage has led to lack of emotion.
