There are many other points which are raised which we never think of that way before. The prime example is the comment that in-spite of the corruption and the malice in the government, indian economy is booming. The progress that is happening is ground up and not because some leaders "ordered" progress to happen (like in some other countries). This is in fact a very good thing and actually adds stability.
I do think that all this India hype, although real, is twisted in American media. I actually thought the woman in the shanty had said "Do saal" and was surprised to hear the reporter say "25 years".
Look at the strenght of free press: Americans are subconsciously gearing up to face competition from India through awe for India, self-criticism and maybe as the article says, scare-mongering.
