This was a major 70s band. Supposedly this band's music was the precursor to contemporary heavy metal bands. Other good songs by this band are 'Dont Look Back' and the classic light rock song 'Amanda'
As for this song i first heard it when I created my radio station on yahoo! a few years back and really liked it. For a whole month I was stuck with only the tume of this song. Only yesterday I remembered a couple of lyrics and hence was able to identify the song. I think the time has come for commercial music portals like yahoo!, itunes, etc, to incorporate "Query by Humming" ;-)
