African Indians

I never knew until now (well, about an hour ago, to be precise) that the British brought into India quite a few Africans to be used as slaves. Known as the Siddis, and numbered at around 20-30 thousand, they now live in Gujarat, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Apparently they are now almost completely assimilated into the local cultures. Only their music and dance forms hold a clue to their origins.

Every passing day makes me realize how much more I don't know about India (and the world) ...
