You and Your Research

Richard Hamming is an extremely well known reseacher in EE - he has done phenomenal work in Signal Processing (Hamming Windows) and Coding Theory (Hamming Codes).

Twenty years ago, he gave this talk at Bell Labs about doing great research, scientific attitude, "brains" and hard work, commitment and sub-consious and many more things.

Very Inspiring Read....has some parallels with the article posted earlier in the blog and this poem too.

A long talk (~45 mins) but worth every second.

Be it music or movies the Bhatt production houses seem to be ruling ...

Gangster is one of the best hindi movies in a while ... 'Woh Lamhe' - starring Kangna and Shiny - is promising to be as good. It is purported to be a 'quasi'-biography on the relationship between Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi ...

The trailer looks very impressive ...

(from slashdot) Smugness on Security ...

MACs are insecure ! So are the new and "improved" US passports ...

It seems the the wireless cards on MACs can be hijacked so that anyone can remotely get complete control over a system if the wireless card is enabled and set to connect to any wireless network.

As for the new US passports, they have RFIDs (a small chip which stores data that can be remotely read using an RFID reader) to supposedly enhance security. However, the RFIDs seem to have many vulnerabilities -- they can be cloned (though not yet forged) and as shown in the above video used to launch targeted terrorist attacks!

The Wheel of Life, some spokes are gone,
Yetserday 'twas her, Tomorrow it's him
The wheel staggers, yet, it must move on,
Carrying but the memories on its rim,
Of smooth and rugged paths we tread together,
And forged a bond that shall stay forever.
